Born and raised in England, Mikki grew up around the art of local greats David Hockney, Henry Moore & Barbara Hepworth. However, when it came to drawing and painting Mikki's influences were not the modernists but the classical masters, Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Caravaggio and sought out a classical art training at a local college. Mikki didn't reserve all her artistic abilities for painting and drawing, she has taken her artistic eye to many crafts. Northern England, where Mikki grew up, had a heavy fiber industry which stimulated her into the crafts of knitting, crochet, spinning and weaving. It was during the time she had a knitwear business in England that Mikki developed a love of beads and travelled regularly to London's Covent Garden to shop for gems to embellish her knitwear. Today, Mikki lives in Fresno, CA creating original designs for bead weavers. She uses her graphic design and illustration skills to create step by step tutorials and many of her tutorials now have accompanying video classes that allow you to bead along with her. Mikki also has a line of polymer components designed especially for bead weavers.
